Late winter and early spring in Cornwall. A quiet time of year but March is the perfect time for a spring short break, particularly if you are interested in magnolias, camelias and daffodils. Cornwall has some of the best displays anywhere.  Expect to see snow drops, primroses and daffodils in the hedgerows much earlier than in other parts of the country.   There are escorted walks to see the magnificent magnolias and camelias at Mount Edgcumbe and Lanhydrock while at Cotehele there’s a Daffodil Weekend and at the end of March the 100th Cornwall Spring Flower Show at Boconnoc. By end of March, the wooded slopes of the Looe Valley will have turned green heralding the imminent arrival of bluebells which will transform the valley by April.

South East Cornwall also has some great live entertainment venues including:

  • The Eden Project Sessions – a stunning location in front of the Mediterranean and Equatorial biomes
  • The Rum Store at Carnglaze Caverns, near St Neots - a slate mine/tourist attraction by day but with an amazing underground concert stage featuring a regular programme of artists. This year’s line up includes Elkie Brooks and Rick Wakeman,  and tribute bands to the Eagles, the Beatles, Abba, Phil Collins and Yes as well as youth wind orchestras and choirs.
  • Sterts Theatre at Upton Cross on Bodmin Moor – an open air theatre under canvas. Brilliant summer productions under canvas and a programme of events continues in the Studio October to end of Spring.
