Cornish Cream Tea near Looe
Sometimes it’s nice to get away from the beach and the busy fishing port of Looe. Just 2 miles travelling inland of Looe (A387), you will discover the idyllic setting of Polraen Country House at Sandplace. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy the peace and beauty of the Looe Valley with both free parking and easy access by bus and train. Listen to the birdsong. Watch the pheasants and buzzards. Soak up the atmosphere.
Located just a 4 minute stroll from Sandplace Station, you can take a lovely trip on the scenic Looe Valley Line skirting the banks of the river along the most scenic stretch of the line from Looe or from Liskeard. Or catch the No 73 Polperro-Liskeard bus which stops right outside the door.
Wheel chair access is through the garden gate entrance with a low gradient to the patio. Dogs on leads are welcome in the bar and in the garden.

Whether it’s just a really good cup of coffee and a slice of home made cake or a delicious platter of Cornish charcuterie, smoked seafood or cheese, you’ll find our light lunch menu offers a popular and pleasing choice. Your Cornish cream tea can be traditional or served with Prosecco and of course, there are home made cakes and specials too, and a fully licensed bar including a range of Cornish Orchards’ ciders and soft drinks.
