Cornish Food and Drink
We believe sampling Cornish food and drink is part of what makes a holiday in Cornwall so special. That’s why we use quality Cornish ingredients at breakfast. And on occasions when we serve evening meals, we follow the same Cornish tradition of buying local fish in Looe, Cornish cheeses, icecream and ready-made meals from Katie’s Cornish Hot Pots.
Dinner, Bed & Breakfast (Spring, Autumn only)
We’ve teamed up with two Cornwall based chefs heavily influenced by their travels around the globe to bring you a selection of home-made dishes.
- From Cornish Mixed Fish to Slow Cooked Beef & Cornish Ale Stew
- From Caribbean Goat Curry to Moroccan Chicken
- For the lighter appetite, cheese or charcuterie platters
- Our famous yummy home-made puddings
- Drinks from our bar from 6pm
To book Dinner, Bed & Breakfast, add the appropriate number of two-course evening meals at £20 per person to your mid-week reservation at the time of booking. Meals can be added up to 48 hours prior to arrival by contacting us. Evening meal requests made ‘on the day’ remain subject to availability.
Evening in The Conservatory
When the Conservatory at Polraen is not in use for dinner, we are happy for you to use this lovely room overlooking the garden to ‘dine at home‘ with a picnic or takeaway. We will supply your crockery, cutlery and glassware and do your washing up! Alternatively, try some of Looe’s fine restaurants over the weekend.
Buy a drink from Polraen’s fully licensed hotel bar to accompany your meal while you unwind after a day’s sightseeing. The Conservatory overlooks an award-winning garden surrounded by glorious Cornish countryside so it’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the spacious facilities of our country house.
We’re equally happy to share our knowledge of the many great restaurants in and around Looe serving wonderful Cornish produce. In particular, we recommend The Plough Pub & Restaurant in the nearby village of Duloe at which we can make table reservations on your behalf or indeed, at other restaurants in the area. In Looe, our personal favourite is the Old Sail Loft Restaurant although there’s plenty of choice and a variety of cooking styles to choose from.
