Finding a Looe hotel or B&B with free onsite parking is a rare thing which is why easy level access to Polraen’s onsite car park is especially appreciated by guests with restricted mobility and young families. Throw a bus and Looe Valley train into the mix and you have a perfect combination for anyone who likes the convenience of exploring Cornwall by car, bus or train.

Train

You can reach Polraen from across the UK via mainline train to Liskeard, changing to the Looe Valley Line for Sandplace – the last stop before Looe. It’s a request stop so please tell the conductor. From the station, turn right at the gate and walk parallel to the railway track for circa 400 yards past a row of pretty cottages until you reach Polraen Country House.

The 5-minute journey into Looe is the prettiest stretch of the entire line. As the estuary unfolds, you can spot birds and wildlife and admire the Looe Valley views. An extended summer service now sees the last train to Sandplace leaving Looe at 9.36 pm so you can comfortably eat in Looe of an evening and get back by train.

During your stay, cheap day returns via Liskeard offer great car-free days out to Penzance, St Ives, Truro, Newquay, Falmouth and Plymouth. Check timetables and purchase your tickets online from GWR.
