Looe Short Breaks
When we can open our doors again, hopefully in March, you can truly relax without worrying about going out to restaurants, pubs and bars of an evening as our evening meals will be back at Polraen Country House Monday-Thursday. Spring is one of the loveliest times to visit Cornwall to enjoy quieter beaches, walk scenic coastal paths, explore the great outdoors at a gentler pace and see the wonderful bluebells in the Looe Valley.
Spring Dinner, B&B
Our Looe Short Breaks mean you can enjoy all this on a midweek 2, 3 or 4 night stay at Polraen Country House from £70 per person per night, including a 2 course evening meal.
You can book Dinner, Bed & Breakfast by adding the appropriate number of two-course evening meals to your mid-week reservation at the time of booking. You do not need to book dinner every night of your stay, but can book up to 4 nights with dinner Mon-Thurs. Meals can be added up to 48 hours prior to arrival by contacting us. However, evening meal requests made ‘on the day’ remain subject to availability.

What’s special about a short break at Polraen?
The price, the comfort, the convenience, the awarding winning hospitality, the first-class breakfasts and the peace and quiet! A shortbreak in Looe is a great way to recharge your batteries and enjoy the magic of Cornwall. Enjoy the best of both worlds – surrounded by Cornish countryside yet so close to Looe, you can be there in 3 minutes by car. Or take the Looe Valley train or explore further by bus to the quaint village of Polperro.
Social Distancing at Polraen
Back at Polraen, you can enjoy the comforts of home. Our spacious facilities afford the space for social distancing in the guest lounge, watching tv or reading a book. Full details of our Covid-19 measures to keep you safe can be read here. We’ll happily recommend and book local restaurants and pubs. And on the nights Fri-Sun when dinner is not available at Polraen, you can bring in a takeaway or food purchased on your travels and picnic in the conservatory. Alternatively, dine out at one of Looe’s fine restaurants.
Picture the view from your breakfast table. Our beautiful garden is surrounded by wooded valley slopes. Each season, watch the colours change from the pastels of spring to the rich hues of summer. While you savour Eggs Benedict, a sumptuous Full English or a light and healthy option, more than likely you will be joined by several pheasants who seek sanctuary in our large garden. They come to peck the seed laid down by us for their breakfast.
Short Breaks in Looe

You can park in a spacious car park, and relax in Polraen’s hotel style facilities set in a landscaped garden. Relax in the cosy comfort of our 5 well equipped 4 star Gold Award ensuite rooms. Sink into leather sofas in the guest lounge. The hustle and bustle is elsewhere. Polraen remains an oasis of calm at any time of year. The fishing ports and villages beckon, the views are stunning from the cliff top paths or the rugged rolling landscape up on the moors. Our sightseeing recommendations
Set up for the day with a great breakfast, you can reach the sea in 5 minutes. Or walk in the Looe Valley or on the South West Coast Path to Polperro. Depart from convenient onsite parking for a day of touring the sights. From Polraen, we also have easy options for exploring locally without the stress of driving a car. The 5 minute journey on the scenic Looe Valley Line train from our location at Sandplace into Looe is a highlight for many who stay at Polraen. You can spot the hotel (a bit like the Railway Children!) and see wildlife and birds as the train skirts the river bank just above the water line into Looe.
So book one of our short breaks in Looe and enjoy a relaxing stress free autumn break in Cornwall.
